Our member-directed Association is focused on providing education for our members, positively influencing creditor/debtor legislation, and providing liaison with local courts and government agencies.

Access to the ILCBA ListServ - an Internet discussion group
Members are entitled to participate in the ILCBA ListServ, which provides access to over 200 attorneys located around the state. The ListServ is an excellent way for creditors' rights attorneys to ask questions and communicate with each other on a daily basis. Recent topics include changes in the law, questions pertaining to specific cases, and information about useful Web sites and services. As stated by a new member, "I recently joined up and am mightily impressed by the amount of information exchanged on this list..."

      * Student members receive limited Listserv access, featuring a daily email summarizing all messages sent.

Members Only Resource Library
Searchable tool to find resources, information, articles, and documents relevant to members. The Association always welcomes and encourages submissions to the library.

CLE Seminars on Relevant, Practical Topics
The ILCBA is an accredited Minimum Continuing Legal Education provider. We offer several seminars each year, to which ILCBA members receive discounted registration. Topics vary and speakers are selected based on their expertise in specific aspects of creditors law and member interest. In addition, the ILCBA supports outside events and conferences that pertain to creditors law. 

State and Local Presence
Your membership helps the ILCBA maintain a strong presence in Springfield, proposing and coordinating legislation to ensure a level playing field in the area of creditors' rights. We are actively involved in the creation and implementation of Cook County's Early Resolution Program. We hosted a candidate forum for the position of Clerk of the Circuit Court of Cook County.

Federal and National Engagement
Five ILCBA members have served as Presidents of the National Creditors Bar Association. We contributed to an amicus brief that helped overturn Hunstein v. Preferred Collection and Management Services, Inc., which held the use of Third Party Vendors to be an FDCPA violation.

MEMBERSHIP FEES

New Member | $175
Available to brand-new ILCBA members, or those who have not held membership within the past three years. It offers a one-year membership at a reduced rate. After receiving this introductory rate, members are no longer eligible for it in the future.

ILCBA Membership | $250
Available to licensed, practicing attorneys. Includes one year of full access to ILCBA benefits described above.

Firm / Bundle Membership | Based on Number of Members

Retired/Licensed — Actively Practicing Law | $100
Available to retired/licensed judges actively practicing law—whether as a Sole Practitioner or a Member of a Law Firm.

Retired / Non-Licensed — Not Actively Practicing | $50
Available to individuals who are retired or no longer actively practicing law. This includes both Attorneys and Judges who do not actively practice law, but participate as Neutrals for Mediations/Arbitrations, whether through a Service, including JAMS, ADR, etc., a Court System, such as Illinois County Arbitration Center, or on their own. 

Law Student Membership | Free
Law students are eligible for free ILCBA membership throughout their time in law school, up until the first anniversary of passing the Bar.
